Even our PVC Fig Sets start somewhere. Above you see the very first step in the process of developing the new Disney Fairies figurine play set, my very first rough thumbnail sketches of the final poses. I always start with thumbnail sketches because I want to get the very first inspiration on paper. It’s a bit like taking notes in a class or a meeting. I’m not worrying about character model at this point, only the action, movement or personality I want to capture in the final product. Below those quick sketches is the set as it appears in stores. This is the very first appearance of Zarina, the pirate fairy. We based her pose on a great piece of early development art we had received from the studio. I feel like we really captured the character of each of the girls in the final sculpts. But, it always starts with a sketch!
